Netflix's Cursed was premiered on July 17th,2020. It is based on the novel of the same name. This Netflix series is centred around Nimue played by Katherine Langford popularly known for her role as Hannah Baker in another popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.
Cursed is mainly based on the relationship of Nimue with the sword. Nimue gets the sword from her dying mother and instructed to deliver the sword to a sorcerer. This Netflix's adaptation is mainly based on how Nimue fights for her to save her people with the power of the sword.
First of all, this is not a review of the show. This was a highly expected show form Netflix because of many reasons such as Katherine Langford starring as Nimue, The Arthurian legend, the magic, fantasies and everything. As the expectations were so high, the show might not be fulfilling as it was expected.
The first 2 episodes of the show are so hard to watch. The narrative and the plot were not stable, sometimes it is rushed and sometimes it is dead slow. Though the show's progress was better than the early episodes, it failed to give a better first impression.
The sets and props look so cheap and it looked too artificial and doesn't give anything to the plot. Some times the weird transitions between scenes look so cheap. Also, there was no cliffhanger which leaves us the mystery for the forthcoming episodes which is a huge drawback of this show.
There was no chemistry between Nimue and Arthur. Yes, Nimue and Arthur seemed to have no chemistry which was hard to swallow because it is a thing many expected. Even Pym and Dof had better chemistry than Nimue and Arthur.
The fight scenes were too artificial and never made an impact on the story when someone is dead. Technically speaking, Netflix's Cursed failed to give what Witcher gave.
Netflix's Original series Cursed is a Mediocre fantasy series which you can watch if you like fantasy, magic and similar genre. This is a series which you should watch without any expectations and comparisons to any similar series like GOT, Vikings, Witcher..(etc). At first, it may be hard to watch but if get passed the hard part you may like the show.
